Terms
The rental terms, in words you can read once.
Current plans: Starter $89/mo, Business $149/mo, Growth $249/mo, plus GST/HST. Last updated 14 September 2026.
What we agree to do
We build your website, put it on your domain, and keep it online. We host it, renew the SSL certificate, patch it, back it up daily, and watch it for outages.
We make the content edits your plan includes. An edit is one change to existing content on one page, however long it takes us. Your plan says how many you get each month. Unused edits do not carry over.
We answer your emails inside the window your plan states: two business days on Starter, one business day on Business, the same business day on Growth. Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays in British Columbia.
What you agree to do
Pay the monthly price, on the same day each month, by credit card or pre-authorized debit.
Give us accurate information about your business, and tell us when it changes.
Own the rights to everything you send us. Your photos, your logo, your text. If you send us something you do not have the right to use, that is on you, not us.
Use the website lawfully. We will take down a site being used for fraud, harassment, or anything illegal, and we will not refund it.
What you pay
Nothing up front. No setup fee, no deposit. Your first payment is taken on the day the site goes live.
The monthly price of your plan, plus GST or HST, plus any add-ons you asked for. Every price is published on our pricing page and does not change without your agreement.
Your plan price is fixed for 24 months. After that, any change comes with 60 days written notice, and you may cancel instead of accepting it.
We do not bill by the hour. If we quote you for something outside your plan, it is a fixed price and you approve it in writing before we start.
If a payment fails
Your site stays up. We email you the day it fails and again seven days later.
If the payment is still outstanding 30 days after the second email, we call you. Only after that call, or after a reasonable attempt to reach you, would the site come down.
A site taken down for non-payment goes back up the day the balance is cleared, at no extra charge, for 90 days. After 90 days the site may be deleted.
The term and how to leave
The first term is 12 months from the day the site goes live. After that it continues month to month.
You can cancel at any time after month 12 by giving 30 days written notice by email. There is no cancellation fee.
If you need to leave inside the first 12 months, tell us why. We have no interest in holding a business to a website it does not want, and we would rather agree an exit than argue about one.
We can also end the agreement with 60 days notice. If we do, we will not charge you for that notice period.
Who owns what
You own your domain name. It is registered in your name, and we will never hold it, transfer it, or point it anywhere without your instruction.
You own every word on the site, including copy we wrote for you. You own every photo you gave us. You own your logo. You own your customer list, every enquiry the contact form has ever sent you, and your Google Business Profile and Analytics accounts.
We own the website files, the design, the code, and the system it is built on. You are renting the use of them, not buying them. This is the whole basis of the price and it is stated on the pricing page as well as here.
Licensed stock photos we bought for your site are licensed to us, not to you, and they come down with the site.
What happens when you cancel
Within five business days of your last paid day, we send you a copy of every page's text and every image you supplied, in a format you can open.
Then the website comes down and your domain points wherever you tell it to.
We do not keep your site running to charge you for it, and we do not hold anything back to make leaving harder.
What we do not promise
We do not promise search rankings, traffic, phone calls, or sales. Nobody honestly can.
We do not promise the site will never be offline. We monitor it and we fix it, but no host is up 100 percent of the time.
If the site is offline for more than 24 hours in a month because of something on our side, ask us and we will credit that month.
Liability
If something goes wrong and it is our fault, what we owe you is limited to the fees you have paid us in the six months before it happened.
We are not responsible for losses caused by something outside our control, by a third party service we connect to your site, or by information you gave us that was wrong.
The legal bits
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada.
If we change these terms, we will email you at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and you may cancel instead of accepting it.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still stands.
Questions about any of this
Email hello@websiterental.ca and ask. We would rather explain a clause than have you sign something you did not read.
